What does it mean to be API certified?

When a valve manufacturer is API 6D certified it means that they have a certificate that certifies their valves are tested to API standards. There are different specifications of API. For instance, API 6D is a specification for pipeline valves. “API 6D specifies requirements and gives recommendations for the design, manufacturing, testing and documentation of ball, check, and gate valves for application in pipeline systems.”  Not only are our Trunnion ball valves API 6D certified but we also carry the API Q1 specification.
